During the meeting, Sahni raised issues related to rail services, passenger facilities and pending railway projects before the Northeast Railway administration. He also sought changes in train timings and measures to improve rail connectivity for passengers.
Sahni demanded a change in the operating schedule of the Gorakhpur-Patna Vande Bharat Express. He said that if the return journey from Patna were scheduled for around 5 pm, it would provide considerable convenience to passengers travelling to Patna for court proceedings, government office work and other essential tasks. He suggested a timetable that would enable passengers to reach Patna by around 11 am the next day.
The issue of persistent delays affecting the Narkatiaganj-Gorakhpur passenger train was also raised during the meeting. Sahni said the train was regularly running three to four hours late, causing difficulties for daily commuters, students, working people, businesspersons and patients who travel on it in large numbers. He demanded that the train’s operations be made punctual.
Sahni also pressed for faster progress on the Chhitauni-Tamkuhi rail project. He said completion of the project would strengthen rail connectivity in the region. He stressed the need to accelerate work on pending projects to provide better rail services to border areas.
The meeting also saw demands for additional stoppages of new trains at various stations in the region and expansion of passenger facilities. Sahni said the number of rail passengers in North Bihar was quite high and that essential facilities at stations should be expanded while stoppages of major trains should also be increased.
During the meeting, the General Manager of the Gorakhpur zone honoured Sahni by presenting him with an angavastram. The Gorakhpur division also presented him with a memento.
Sahni said that positive action on the demands raised at the meeting would strengthen rail connectivity in North Bihar and benefit millions of passengers.
